Bus Driver Appreciation Day is a day our kids look forward to every year. Even before school started, they were asking about signing up for A-Team and if we were honoring bus drivers first again this year. They were excited when they found out it was a tailgating theme.
It took a few meetings to make the banner, pennants, and bags, and get the bags stuffed with wrapped candy bars, individually wrapped candies, Little Debbie snacks in the shape of footballs, football-themed napkins, potato chips, and Skittles. The water bottles had labels wrapped around them and flavor packets taped to them and were ice-cold when handed to the bus drivers. The kids worked hard to get all the stuff together and it was well worth it.
On September 22, our A-Team was joined by our cheerleaders (some of which are also A-Team members) in greeting our buses in the afternoon. It was a very festive atmosphere with the cheering, the yelling, and the signs. The bus drivers were smiling and waving as if they were in a parade. What a wonderful day!
